Fear of heights

I am (moderately) afraid of heights.  I will never do a skydive, be really happy in a helicopter or not be frightened when at the very top of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Last weekend, my husband and I went for a walk on the cliffs above Chale Bay.  I had thought that this was National Trust property but it is actually owned by Blackgang Chine.  It was a bit high for my taste but very pretty all the same.  Everything looks lovely when it’s sunny.

Getting over a cold / fabulous sunsets

I have had a cold (not dreadful, just a cold, but enough to make me feel rotten – if I’d been in work, I would have gone home early) and am feeling much better now.  Colds aren’t really terribly interesting so I won’t write very much about this one.  My daughter has also had it and last night woke me up at 4:10am.

On the plus side, we had a fantastic sunset last night.

Wet, windy walks

A couple of days ago, my kids and I went on a wet, windy walk.  In theory I am a big fan of things like this – bracing! Gets children out the house!  In practice, I got earache in one ear from the wind on my right hand side and my daughter whinged the whole way home.  However, it made me feel less guilty about getting them to watch telly in the afternoon.

Ventnor and Steephill Cove

Happy New Year!  It’s been kind of wet and windy but yesterday we had a fantastic window of sunshine so we went for a windy walk along the cliff from Ventnor.  I’m really enjoying doing this sort of thing now that my daughter is old enough to walk.  Our friends G and L were with us with their two kids so we had a nice little gang of children.

Steephill Cove is a pretty spot – you can’t get there by car so you need to do a steep walk, whichever direction you come from (involving lots of stairs down a cliff).  A couple of years ago we were there and I saw someone with a Bugaboo Donkey on the beach – I seriously have no idea how they got that there (or got it back up to the top).  It’s hard enough with just a rucksack.

If you go in summer, they have a terrific cafe that does a lot of crab.  It being winter, however, it was shut (like much of the IoW).

Eyefi

I have a new toy for Christmas – an Eyefi camera card.  Basically, it means that I can download photos directly from my “nice” camera onto my phone and then I can upload them onto here.  It may mean that the photos on this blog may improve.

New Change

After meeting for lunch, my friend and I walked to One New Change to have a little looky look round the shops.

After having a look in Next (more on this), we went up to the roof for a drink.  It had been raining quite hard so the roof was a bit soggy but very nice all the same.

I went inside to use the loo and the office parties were already in full swing.  One of the things I love about the City is City workers’ ability to start downing cocktails at 2pm.
