Black satin

My purple nail varnish was a bit chipped (too much washing up), so I redid them in Chanel’s Black Satin (which, amazingly, you can still buy).

It is a bit too Goth for me but I like it, despite being 37.  Perhaps I can pretend to be an Emo.  My only real complaint is that my left hand (the one I do first) has opaque black colour while my right has fair more transparent colour – presumably this is because the pigment is not evenly distributed.  Perhaps my bottle is rather old.  I’m sure it won’t bother anyone but me.

Lily beige

We’re out tomorrow night, meeting my friends J and L, so tonight I redid my nails in Chanel’s Lily Beige.

It’s REALLY old (so has definitely been discontinued) – you can tell when you put it on, it’s all claggy.  I do like the colour, it’s so neutral, there’s almost no difference between the colour of my skin and my nails.  However, eight year old nail varnish that is right down to the bottom of the bottle isn’t useful any more so this bottle is going in the bin.

Splendeur and Ballerina

My nails didn’t really survive the weekend so I’ve redone them.  My fingernails were done in Ballerina (basically, a really light shell pink – sort of colour you’d have in a french manicure – it’s about as neutral as you can get) and my toenails were done in Splendour (sort of a raspberry pink – it’s lovely but would definitely clash if I wore red).  You can buy Ballerina (I think it’s one they sell all the time) but Splendeur has been discontinued.

I took a photo of my toenails but my feet really aren’t very nice so I won’t subject you to them.

Blue Satin

In readiness for going out for our anniversary, I’ve taken off the gold nail varnish (it was a bit chipped) and painted my nails with Chanel’s Blue Satin nail varnish.  I don’t think they sell it any more.

As usual, I’m not sure whether I like it.  It’s vaguely witchy without actually being Goth but in person it does look a bit as though I’ve dipped my nails in blue ink.  My daughter loves it though which does make me feel better.
