On Monday, my son’s school had a Hallow’een Cake Sale. My daughter and I baked gingerbread stars and madeleines. Baking with children feels like a “worthy” activity – as long as you don’t snap at them.
My daughter enjoyed holding the electric mixer, rolling out the dough and cutting out the star shapes. They ended up looking okay (the ones that weren’t burnt).
I was also one of the helpers at the bake sale itself. An hour and a half of volunteering and my son now thinks that I am a magical person. Quite a result.
