Last week, we went to Carisbrooke castle, where my son interrogated the kind gardener on all her spiky plants (he only really likes the spiky ones) in Princess Beatrice’s garden. The poor lady talked to him for about twenty minutes (she said it was nice to talk to a child interested in plants, I think she was beyond tolerant) and I had a chance to admire some of the plants there.
Foxtail lilies are not meant to be very long lasting but they are extremely beautiful when they are in flower. This was spectacular.
This sea holly wasn’t fully in flower yet but was still very satisfyingly cabbagy. I am growing these from seed (more on this later).
