Some of the alliums that have come out round London are really spectacular. I absolutely love alliums – there’s something very structural about them and they provide great food for bees during the June gap. Bulbs in my garden in the IoW tend to come out a bit later than in London (perhaps because it’s windy) so I hope mine will come out soon.
Last year, I was rather eyeing up some white allium bulbs from Crocus but they were £4 each, which does seem a bit steep. I do like the way they look like giant dandelion docks.
Update: Am in the IoW. Not A Single Sodding Allium. Not one. They were beautiful last year but are entirely absent this year.
