Rereading books

So I’ve finished the Chrysalids and Day of the Triffids.  Although I remember reading the Chrysalids and loving it, I think there must have been a lot that I didn’t pick up on at the time – perhaps I was too young.  I won’t go into detail because it is such a good book – if you like that sort of thing, you should definitely read it.

The Day of the Triffids was good but perhaps a bit more patchy than the Chrysalids.  The beginning was fantastic but I found the ending far less interesting.

  1. I really enjoy rereading books. Most of the time there will be nuances that you simply didn’t understand in the first reading. Maybe you have had a life experience since then that helped put things in perspective, maybe you just read it differently.

I have read a set of books called The Belgariad about 10 times now. I love it.

I read The Day of the Triffids years ago and enjoyed it, although, as I said, the TV show scared the crap out of me! If I reread it now, maybe I would be almost bored by it? I’m older, more cynical and understand more of the world. I just don’t think it would have the same impact on me.
