M gave us some lovely things (clothes and snow boots) to hand down to the kids (her children are older). M used to Work In Fashion and therefore has lovely taste.
My son went to preschool wearing one of the tops – it says “Big Brother” so rather suitable for a day when he is at preschool with my daughter. The girls’ clothes are slightly too big so I’ve put those away for a couple of months.
This gave me a bit of a shove to actually go through the kids’ clothes and do some archiving. Some of the things that the girl had in her drawer were for a child aged 12 months and the boy was starting to look shrink-wrapped (he appears to have had a growth spurt) – plus some of his trousers were ragged round the waistband.
I do love sorting out the kids’ clothes – their drawers now close and I know exactly what they have and what they need (not a whole lot, to be honest – perhaps a couple of pairs of trousers for the boy). Before the sort out, I tended to peer at their drawer and feel some guilt at the disgusting volume of clothing they appear to have. However, as about half the stuff was much too small, they actually have a reasonable number of clothes.
Other good news – my husband’s ankle is MUCH better and he is allowed to take his air cast off. He is allowed to drive! He is allowed to swim! Life is looking a bit rosier.
