Buying clothes for your children to grow into

A blog I’ve recently discovered, Coffee & Bubbles, mentioned that when Prince George went to nursery for the first time, he wore a coat that was last sold in A/W2013 (and therefore isn’t available any more).  I wondered whether it is something they were given when he was born or something that the Duchess of Cambridge bought for him to grow into.

I am sometimes guilty of the second, particularly if there is a sale on.  The other day, I got my daughter this awesome silver coat from Landsend, which had a third off.  Irritatingly, Landsend start their children’ clothes from age 4 but really I think she will be able to wear this coat from next Autumn as it is reasonably close fitting.  I ummed and ached over when to get it in Fuchsia Plum instead of Silver Frost but I’m glad I got it in silver now – it’s actually quite difficult to find girls’ clothes that aren’t pink.  Plus, the silver rather reminds me of David Bowie (although I was not aware that he was about to die when I ordered the coat).
