My garden is now a bog

It UTTERLY poured all morning yesterday, which will not have done my garden any good.  I’d gone out the night before to get some bay leaves and the lawn was so wet, the water came over the top of my crocs.  Quite a few herbs are looking a bit leggy but I’m afraid to prune them in case they give up altogether.  I’ll do it in February.

The other night, while I was scrambling about on the terraced beds, one of the rocks holding the terrace slid down while I was on it.  I wasn’t hurt but it was a real job putting it back – I didn’t manage, exactly, but I think it was good enough.  Rocks are MUCH heavier than they look.  My back is a bit sore today but not hideous.

I’ve noticed a few more of my bulbs are coming up – I think these must be the daffodils I planted last Christmas.  In a way I’m quite relieved that they came up because I planted them in compost which I’ve now learnt is a BAAAD, BAAAAD thing to do – the flowers came up multiheaded but if they are coming up again, perhaps they weren’t completely exhausted last year.  I hope my alliums have also survived.
