Christmas Eve – decorating the house

As it’s Christmas Eve (yay!), I went out to grab some greenery to decorate the house.  We have some holly and it even has berries on.  Also, we have a bush that has some lovely white winter blossom on so I also use that.

For the mantelpieces, I used holly, bay (ours has loads of berries) and rosemary.  I also made up a little vase to go in my sister in law’s room – in this I put some of the winter flowering heliotrope (I have no idea whether it will survive being in a vase), rosemary, holly, bay and the winter blossom.

Having a look around the garden, it seems that some of my herbs are suffering a bit from all this rain.  My sage, in particular, is looking really sorry for itself.  I’ll see whether it perks up next spring – at least one looks as though it has died completely.
