RAF Museum

Yesterday, we went to the RAF Museum, which is somewhere in north west London, off the M1.

I must admit that I wasn’t looking forward to it but it was much better than the one in Duxford.  The Duxford one is probably better if you actually care about planes but if you just want somewhere interesting to visit with the kids, then the RAF one will do just fine.

There are a lot of planes. Unsurprisingly

As it was all inside, we didn’t need coats but the kids and I wore our fleeces.  I think the best thing was the 4D cinema – it was ten minutes, the seats actually moved to simulate the movement of a plane and I even found the film rather moving.  My daughter was too young to be allowed in the cinema so she and my husband ran around in the main hanger.

The thing the kids liked best of all was this thing where you put in a pound and a penny, turn a wheel and then your penny comes out completely mangled.

It does seem rather weird to pay to have your money mangled but hey ho.
