Yesterday was very windy – it looked fantastic but felt very cold once you got outside. It was, at most, 5C (41F) and the winds were just over 40 MPH. It’s quite difficult to convey a very windy day on camera so you will have to take my word for it.
I really need to do some work in the garden but there isn’t much point while it’s so windy. Just small jobs like raking leaves, deadheading roses and hydrangeas and sorting out some of the flowerbeds.
One thing I have noticed, looking round the garden, is just how many geraniums we have coming through. These are horrible to get out as their tubers spread deep underground – the weed geraniums don’t even flower nicely. I’m not sure exactly what to do about my wildflower meadow – I always said I would never use weedkiller there (as wildflowers are weeds, basically, so it would kill off the whole patch) but I’m not convinced that digging the geraniums up will be terribly effective.
