Yesterday evening, I was checking out another blog Life: Hellish Disasters to Divine Temptation and the author referred to something called “Project Pan” – as far as I can see, you have to use up your make up and you are not allowed to replace something until it is all used up. Presumably, this means that you would have only one type of foundation (say) but are allowed a couple of lipsticks? Anyway, it is an interesting idea and rather inspired me.
You see, I think that this is something that I do anyway but this is not entirely the case. I have a “core” make up case which gets used all the time and then an “overflow” one which has stuff I am not using but can’t quite bear to throw out.
In my core make up case, I have two eye shadow compacts – one with a bunch of neutrals and one purple (I think both are from Bobbi Brown), one purple eye liner (NARS), one liquid blusher (Origins), one lipstick (Laura Mercier – I also carry a lip stain in my handbag), one tube of BB cream (Estee Lauder), one loose face powder (MAC) and two brushes (both Shu Umuera).
Now, this looks like a pared down homage to minimalism. HOWEVER, in my overflow make up case, there are:
I really have no idea why I bought the “charcoal” eye shadow from Bobbi Brown – I can’t ever imagine wearing it unless I want to look terrifying.
I hadn’t realised how old some of that stuff was – apparently Ruby & Millie don’t even exist in the UK any more and I don’t think any of the colours are still being sold.
One thing I do need to mention is that I also have an IoW make up case – this is basically almost exactly the same as the “core” make up case but with a bit less in it. As I am usually gardening etc there, I often don’t bother with make up when I am in the IoW but I like to know that it is available.
Anyway, I recommend that you check out this blog. It seems to be largely about beauty products – this interests me but may not interest you. The author has a nice methodical way of reviewing the products she uses, which appeals to me quite a lot.
