One of the places that E took me to was this awesome bar where they ONLY do gin and tonics. As you know, I think Spanish G & T is amazing.
It was a smart little place. E said that I had to keep hold of my bag though as her friend had hers snatched while she was there. The friend got it back though as she ran after the snatcher and he threw it back to her. Both my husband and E made me rather paranoid about pickpockets and bag snatchers – however, she said that vigilance really is needed there and that everyone gets their purse pinched all the time.
I was most impressed by E being able to read the Spanish menu. She told me what everything was – I had three of these and she had two (they weren’t terribly strong, I’m sure).
After the gin and tonic bar, we went to this lovely square. I can’t remember what it was called but it was very pretty – while we were there we met her Finnish friend.
While we were out, we heard some of what had been happening in Paris but not all of it. I feel that I should write quite a lot about this but really, I think it is almost certainly covered much better already elsewhere. It is quite strange to be out having fun and find out about terrorism in another European city.
