Today I have blisters. Now the lady in Hobbs said my shoes would feel quite hard for the first week (she was wearing them in a different colour so she should know) and then soften up. At least they are flat.
I am a wimp and have put a load of Compeed blister plasters on.
I said that wearing flat shoes would be good for the lady in the shop as she is on her feet all day. I remember my feet at the end of my first day working in a gift shop in Brighton when I was 15 – the lady said they call it “retail legs” but said she doesn’t get it any more.
Today I am meant to be hosting a bunch of new mums so they can meet each other and make friends with other new mums in the area. However, they are nearly always late and I never know how many will turn up. I went to Ottolenghi to get some biscuits, just in case.
Ottolenghi is a good shop. They have a queue out the door on Friday and Saturday lunchtimes and are NEVER empty. I love their cakes and salads, although realistically they are not slimming. My husband thinks they are poncey, I think he is hard to please.
