Today, I went to meet my friend Jules for lunch at Haz, along with my husband and our friends D and L. We were a bit early, so I popped into Next to pick up some thin tracksuit bottoms I’d ordered for my son – while I was there I bought these for my daughter:
I never used to like Next kids’ clothes but these were lovely. They are quite big too so should be good for wearing through to next Summer.
I’d never really been round One New Change much before – when I was working, it was just a bit too far to shlep there in my lunch hour. However, I HAVE been to Barbecoa. It was at the end of 2010 and the food was lovely – unfortunately, the cloakroom was full and the backs of the chairs were too weirdly shaped to hang our coats on. This might have changed though. It DOES have an amazing view.
It was SUPER to see my friend Jules. She lives in Bermuda but was back in London for a few days. She had just come back from watching South Africa play in Newcastle (where we both went to university) and was wearing an AWESOME pink Newcastle University hoody.
Now, Bermuda is a funny place. They appear to pay almost no income tax but have to pay an extraordinary duty tax on anything they bring in from overseas. Jules went to see them to find out whether she could bring her wedding dress over to Bermuda from South Africa (where she got married) but they got very funny with her about it. So it looks as though her wedding dress is going to stay in her parents-in-law’s loft in South Africa. “BUT! Why on Earth would you need your old wedding dress?” I asked. She says that you are meant to try it on at least once a year. To make sure that you are the same size as when you got married. Ha, ha, ha. I am not, I am sure. My wedding dress is wrapped in tissue paper in a box somewhere.
After lunch, we went and had a mooch round the shops. This is what I bought:
We also went into Georg Jensen, where Jules bought some AMAZING Forget-Me-Knot earrings, which, for some reason, I can’t find on the website. They were quite a lot of money, it made me feel much better about the spending I did.
On the way home, I bought these in rose gold at Dinny Hall. Rose gold is 20% off there at the moment, I just thought you should know.
